(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The chief of the Jami’at-e-Ahl-e-Hadees, Kashmir, Maulana Shaukat Ahmad Shah made an appeal to the people to maintain unity and defeat the designs of elements fuelling discord on sectarian and doctrinal lines.
“Efforts are on for some time to create sectarian and doctrinal hatred among Muslims of Kashmir, and every member of the nation needs to be vigilant against such designs,” Maulana Shah said in a statement issued here.
“Some political charlatans are engaged in fuelling rancour between people of different sects to serve their own despicable interests. Those who wittingly or unwittingly fall for their deception would be ruining their hereafter, and doing incalculable harm to Muslims, ” he said.
Maulana Shah appealed to all schools of thought to strongly counter the designs of those who wanted to wreck Muslim unity for their petty political interest.
The appeal came a day after clashes were reported in north Kashmir township of Sumbal between two groups of Muslims prompting local authorities to impose curfew in the area.
Sitution in the township was now reported to be calm.
Earlier Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader Muhammad Yasin Malik visited the affected villages and appealed for calm.
